Government Plans to Open YouTube After Eid

By on Sunday, July 28, 2013

Government of Pakistan is making efforts to lift YouTube ban after Eid-ul-Fitr, reported Express Tribune.
Paper, on its website, said that Anusha Rehman, Telecom and IT Minister, has formed a committee to review the matter of lifting ban on YouTube. Committee is directed to somehow make sure that all the objectionable material is blocked or made inaccessible in Pakistan.
However, it is still unclear that how future-duplication of objectionable content will be blocked.
It merits mentioning here that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has already expressed its inability to block objectionable content.
On other hands, Google has also not responded to Pakistan’s request of blocking objectionable content in the country, like it has done for various other regions.
Now government has hinted that it may open YouTube in Pakistan after making sure the blockade of all objectionable material, without mentioning the methods it intend to use for blocking the content.
Government said that all stakeholders will be taken into confidence before reopening the website.

Indo-Pak talks to resume in August

By on Sunday, July 28, 2013

The dialogue process with Pakistan was thrown off the track by the January ceasefire violations.

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) - The stalled Indo-Pak composite dialogue process is all set to restart in August with Islamabad proposing dates for water secretary level talks — meant to address the Wullar Barrage issue — and New Delhi "actively considering it". Pakistan, in fact, has also proposed a meeting between the two foreign secretaries but, as diplomatic sources confirmed, only after talks over water and Sir Creek issues are held, said an Indian media report.

The dialogue process with Pakistan was thrown off the track by the January ceasefire violations, which led to killings of both Indian and Pakistani soldiers. The water talks that were to be held in late January were the first casualty of the impasse that followed. India decided to postpone the talks saying that its water resources secretary was retiring and instead proposed that the dialogue be held in March.

The postponement came days after then Pakistani commerce minister Makhdoom Fahim called off his visit to India. "There are some proposals from Pakistan for the resumption of dialogue and dates are being worked out through diplomatic channels," said an Indian government source.

Diplomatic sources said Pakistan has sent a list of dates to India for all government-level dialogues, which are to be held in Islamabad. Pakistan wants the water talks to be held in the last week of August and Sir Creek in mid-September. It has also said that foreign secretaries could meet in October to take stock of the overall situation. It has suggested that PM Manmohan Singh could visit Pakistan around the same time to further bolster the peace process.
Indian government sources said there is no questioning of not responding favourably to the proposals by Islamabad as India has already agreed to a meeting between PM Manmohan Singh and his counterpart Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of UNGA in New York late September.
Sharif s special advisor on foreign affairs Sartaz Aziz had proposed in a meeting with foreign minister Salman Khurshid that the two PMs meet in New York to fast track the CBMs and composite dialogue process. Speaking after Aziz, Khurshid had said India was looking forward to meetings between the various joint-working groups in July itself.
The list of dates for talks is yet another initiative by Islamabad to put the peace process firmly back on track after the victory of Sharif in the recent general elections. Sharif maintained throughout his election campaign that he wanted to repair ties with India. While he insisted after taking over that Singh keep his long-standing promise to visit Pakistan, Sharif accommodated his counterpart s reluctance to go there by proposing that the two meet in New York for the time being.
The Pakistani PM then went ahead and appointed former Pakistan foreign secretary Shaharyar Khan as his special envoy for reviving the track II dialogue process with India.

Imran Khan sustained serious injuries on his head and back after falling from a lifter on May 7.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan has disclosed that terrorists had a plan to kill him the next day of his Lahore rally, adding that his fall from a lifter actually saved his life.

In an article published by a British newspaper, Imran Khan wrote, "it is an irony, then, that a serious assassination attempt was prevented only by an accident – and the fact that I spent the closing days of the Pakistan election campaign in a hospital bed. The fall that nearly killed me quite possibly saved my life."

Khan sustained serious injuries on his head and back after falling from a lifter during climbing up the stage installed for an election rally in Lahore on May 7.

The PTI chief said he was also among the terrorist hit-list, adding that the then Interior Minister Rehman Malik told himself that the terrorists had a plan to assassin him the other day. "The authorities had already warned me that my life was at risk, and I had been given the highest level of police security." "I had been told I was number one on the terrorist hit-list,although who the terrorists would be was anybody’s guess. There are perhaps 25 militant groups which now call themselves  Taliban  and any one of them could have been hired by my political opponents," he added.

For Priyanka change is the spice of life

After establishing her acting credentials, Priyanka Chopra is keen to take the world of music by storm

Coming a long way from being a Miss World to a much-admired actor, Priyanka Chopra has found another outlet for her penchant for creativity: singing.

The movie Fashion was a turning point in Priyanka's career. Shooting to further critical acclaim after her role as an autistic girl Jhilmil in Barfi and deranged serial killer/lover in 7 Khoon Maaf, Priyanka is now donning the acting and singing hats with elan.

Was Priyanka's decision to take up singing prompted by a desire to seek insurance against the future, especially in a milieu where heroines have a limited shelf-life, compared to heroes? No, as she once told the Forbes magazine: `My music is simply an extension of my creativity.`

Though not a professional music artiste, Priyanka Chopra started her singing career with Tollywood movies. She found the inspiration to take up singing in her late father, with whom she was deeply attached. Singing live on the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Priyanka produced her first single album In My City, in September 2012, thus becoming the first Indian actor to make the big leap into the competitive world of pop music.

For her latest high-energy, infusion pop, dance track Exotic, Piggy Chops has teamed up with Pitbull, the famous rapper of America -- considered as the daddy of rock. Besides lending her mellifluous voice, the 30-year-old Indian beauty has looked really exotic in the album.

Recently, she caused massive fan frenzy in West Hollywood as she launched a celebrity milkshake The Exotic Shake, inspired by her album with Pitbull.

Interestingly, it was international musical sensation, Pitbull who gave Jennifer Lopez her top three hits on the US charts in the last decade. Though, it must be acknowledged that Exotic is not that much of a success to top the US charts.

Nevertheless, Priyanka has chosen to straddle the two worlds of acting and singing and encounter all the challenges that the sailing in two boats entails. After making her mark as a pop diva, the day is not far when she does the playback for Bollywood songs. Best wishes from Santa Banta family, Piggy Chops

SRK enthralls fans in Kolkata

The actor visited the city for promotions of his upcoming film 'Chennai Expressed and was over whelmed by the response of fans. He speaks about women's safety, the need to educate children to respect women, surrogacy and more...

Overwhelmed by the turnout while promoting his forthcoming movie 'Chennai Express', Shah Rukh Khan gushed about not wanting to leave his "favourite city".

"I love you Kolkata... I mean this is extremely overwhelming. I tour the whole country for my films but when I come here, you need to pass a law here that you adopt me and keep me here. I don't want to go from here," he said at an event.

Thousands of fans braved the monsoons to get a glimpse of the Badshaah of Bollywood as strains of Shah Rukh's hits like 'Chaiyyan Chaiyyan' revved up the energy level of the crowd.

As part-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, the actor has a huge following in the city.

"Thank you for supporting the cricket team," said Shah Rukh as he elapsed in to the team's anthem 'Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo'.

As King Khan waved and threw bouquets amid the throng, there was a mad scramble to pick up the flowers, prompting SRK to say "be careful, don't fight."

A star-struck crowd ogled at the star, as he enlivened legions of fans by dancing to 'Chennai Express' hit number 'One two three four!', dressed in a dark grey shirt and black vest with the customary hat that he dons in the movie.

Praising city-based dance group Crescendo for their performance, Shah Rukh stated that the youngsters performed "even better" than what the actor did in the film.

He also mesmerised the audience by repeating popular dialogues from his films 'Devdas', 'Don 2', 'Om Shanti Om' among others.

Wooing denizens with the popular phrase from 'Chennai Express', "Dont underestimate the power of the common man", SRK jazzed up the atmosphere further by distributing hats among the spectators.

Defending Kolkata in the wake of the rising incidents of crime against women in the city, Shah Rukh said not only Kolkata, but the whole world had issues when it came to the safety of women.

Khan, who is the state's brand ambassador, came to his "favourite" city's rescue by pointing out that safety of women is a global concern, "This is very personal. You can't pick on a city because it's easiest to blame the system. The whole country, the whole world actually has issues as far as safety of women is concerned."

The star also stressed the need to teach children to respect women.

"We can always turn around and say that it's sad, but I think the younger people, and I feel I am young, we must change the concept of how we bring up our children at home. The thing is the mentality of not telling the boys how to be gentle, and good and respectful. So I have started doing that," Khan said.

"When I talk to my son about girls, I don't talk about girlfriends. I tell him, 'Don't break a girl's heart, treat it gently and there is no way that you can look at an atrocity done on a women and if you do that you will not be forgiven by your father and mother'. So we should start from there," Khan said.

Downplaying the issue of surrogacy and his new born, SRK cleared the air by stating, "I didn't do it to promote surrogacy in the country. I did it to have a baby. I don't know how to explain that."

Directed by Rohit Shetty, 'Chennai Express' is slated for an August 9 release. It stars Deepika Padukone as the lead actress.

Look for whom Salman is a lucky mascot?

After "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani", director Rajkumar Santoshi has once again roped in superstar Salman Khan for a cameo in his forthcoming film "Phata Poster Nikhla Hero". He says it's a mere co-incidence and not because he considers the actor his lucky mascot.

"I don't think like that. It was more a need of the script," Santoshi said here Friday at a press meet of the film.

"In that film ('Ajab...'), Katrina (Kaif) was a big fan of Salman and an incident happens where Salman comes in front of her. In this film, Shahid has been shown as a big fan of film stars, particularly Salman, one of the most happening stars today.

"So it is just a co-incidence, not because of the lucky mascot thing," he added.

However, Santoshi says if "Phata Poster Nikla Hero" works, then he will definitely start calling Salman his lucky mascot.

"I wish it happens, success repeats itself. Then third time I will definitely go to Salman saying that you are lucky for me, come in my film and do a scene," he said.

"Phata Poster Nikhla Hero" stars Shahid Kapoor in the lead besides Ileana D'Cruz. The film hits theatres Aug 23.
