Three killed, 16 hurt in Jaranwala road accident

At least three people died and 16 others injured when a passenger van overturned on Thursday.


JARANWAL (Dunya News) - A seedy bus going to Bhai Phero overturned when driver tried to save a motorcyclist near Lundianwala.

Three persons died on the spot including Akbar Ali, Shahid Iqbal and a woman Allah Jawai while 16 others including the bus driver sustained severe injuries.

They were shifted to Tehsil Headquarter Hospital for medical treatment while five persons with critical condition were refered to Faisalabad.

Punjab CM orders judicial inquiry over Sarbajit's death

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi has ordered judicial inquiry into the demise of Indian spy Sarabjit Singh.

The chief minister directed to examine all factors involved in the death of the Indian prisoner.

Sarabjit Singh was hospitalized on Friday April 26 following injuries sustained during a scuffle with fellow inmates in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail.

The Foreign Office said that government of Pakistan had been providing all assistance to the family of Sarabjit Singh as well as to the Indian authorities since the occurrence of this unfortunate incident.

The government will continue to facilitate for the early completion of all formalities and hand over the mortal remains of the prisoner to the Indian High Commission at the earliest possible, it added.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanded "justice" from Pakistan.

Indian foreign ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin called for Pakistan to conduct a probe into the assault on Sarabjit Singh.

Singh was arrested in 1990 and later found guilty of spying and involvement in deadly bomb blasts in Pakistani cities.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court on Thursday issued an order to prevent PPP candidate Murad Ali Shah from contesting upcoming polls on the ground that he holds dual nationality.

A three member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the dual-nationality case.

During case proceeding, the apex court declared that Murad Ali Shah did not submit any certificate regarding relinquishment of his Canadian nationality.

Earlier, the Sindh High Court had allowed Murad Ali Shah to contest elections despite rejection of his nomination papers by the Returning Officer and Election Tribunal.

Seven killed in Pishin road mishap

Driver of the vehicle lost control and hit a truck coming from opposite direction.


(Web Desk) – At least seven people were killed in a road accident in Pishin district of Balochistan on Thursday.

The driver of the vehicle lost the control due to over-speeding and hit a truck coming from opposite direction, a witness said.

The deceased were taken to the Civil Hospital Quetta.

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta says she will start shooting her next film “Bhaiyyaji Superhitt” from July 
As of now, she is busy with the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and with the promotions of her film production “Ishkq in Paris”.
“I am doing ‘Bhaiyyaji Superhitt’. I will take a one-month break after ‘Ishkq in Paris’ and IPL. We will start shooting from July, ” she said at a press conference here Tuesday.
“Bhaiyyaji Superhitt”, to be directed by Neeraj Pathak, will see her opposite Sunny Deol.
Preity said she is also a part of another project, but “we will wait for the producer to announce the details”.

SC to hear treason petitions against Musharraf today

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) will hear the identical petitions pertaining to the initiation of treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf on Monday.

A three-member bench of apex court, headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja will resume the hearing today.

Meanwhile, the ex-dictator will not be produced before the bench due to security threats.

During the last proceedings, counsel for Musharraf argued that the treason case should not be launched against his client in the best national interest.
 

Sarabjit Singh given best medical treatment: FO

Sarabjit Singh had been in a comatose state and on a ventilator for the last few days.


ISLAMABAD (Dunya NewS) - Convicted Indian spy Sarabjit Singh was being provided the best treatment available and the hospital staff had been working round the clock since his hospitalization to save his life, Foreign Office reported on Thursday.

However, despite their best efforts, they could not save him and Sarabjit Singh passed away due to cardiac arrest.

Sarabjit Singh was hospitalized on Friday April 26 following injuries sustained during a scuffle with fellow inmates in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail.

The Foreign Office said that government of Pakistan had been providing all assistance to the family of Sarabjit Singh as well as to the Indian authorities since the occurrence of this unfortunate incident.

The government will continue to facilitate for the early completion of all formalities and hand over the mortal remains of the prisoner to the Indian High Commission at the earliest possible, it added.
