A three-member bench of the apex court will resume hearing on April 16.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday took suo moto notice of ‘life time privileges’ enjoyed by the former government leaders including ex-premiers, chief ministers, interior ministers and the assembly speakers.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry expressed that unlimited perks and privileges granted to to the former officials is against the law.
The country cannot afford burden of the former public representatives, he added.
In this regard, the Chief Justice issued notices to Interior Secretary, Law Secretary, Chief Secretary and Sindh Home Secretary.
He also directed the Auditor General and Accountant General to submit details regarding privileges given to the former government officials.
