PML-N leads in National Assembly, Punjab

PTI appeared locked in a neck-to-neck battle with PPP for second position in the next parliament.


ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in May 11 elections have clinched a thumping victory, mainly in Punjab, and is poised to form its government in the centre.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also impressed with an impressive performance coming close to becoming the second largest party in the country.

While all the results were still to come in, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) appeared locked in a neck-to-neck battle with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for second position in the next parliament.

Mian Nawaz Sharif, in his victory speech, promised a clean and efficient government after his brother Mian Shahbaz Sharif declared that his brother would become the country’s prime minister for the third time.

According to lasest results, PML-N won 13 out of total 14 seats of National Assembly in Lahore while only one seat was secured by PTI’s Shafqat Mehmood.

Meanwhile, PTI’s chairman defeated his opponent Ghulam Bilor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, receiving maximum number of seats in the northwest region of the country.
