ATC has allowed the FIA to include ex-president in the investigation of the Benazir murder case.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News): The Anti Terrorism Court has allowed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to include former president, General (retd) Pervez Musharraf in the investigation of the Benazir Bhutto murder case.
The FIA team will interrogate Musharraf at his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad which has been declared a sub-jail as a precautionary measure. The ATC has also allowed the FIA to arrest the former president if deemed necessary.
While talking to the media, the prosecutor general FIA Chaudhry Zulfiqar said that Musharraf would be included in the investigation through his remand.
Pervez Musharraf’s counsel Afshan Adil said that he has not been given an opportunity to prepare the case regarding additional sections of different acts.
According to the FIA sources, former president Pervez Musharraf would be presented before the trial court for remand but the schedule would be kept secret as a security purpose.
Musharraf is accused of involvement in a conspiracy to murder Benazir Bhutto, who died in a gun and suicide attack in December 2007. It is one of the three cases he is fighting in the courts since returning home last month after four years in self-imposed exile.
