Chief Justice says chaotic condition in Balochistan is due to deprivation of the majority of people.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News):-Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry passed these remarks while hearing the case regarding welfare projects in Balochistan.

A three-member bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan conducted hearing of the aforesaid case and commented that Balochistan is given more amount for uplift projects as compared to other provinces. In this way, Balochistan should have been the most progressive province of the state but here the situation is diametrically opposite.

He added that law and order situation in the province is unstable because majority of the people is dying of hunger and starvation while leaders are busy in collecting wealth for their vested interests, setting aside the national interests.

He added that common man is deprived of health facility; neither is there pure water to drink nor proper medicine for the patients who are bound to live a pitiable life at the mercy of fate.

Chief Justice consulted why rules and regulations are not kept in view while leasing different projects.

He said that Balochistan was awarded funds of Rs 250 million which were thrown to winds by authorities without keeping in view that pitiable condition of the common man.

The lawyer of the Balochistan government Khwaja Haris said that public representatives pinpoint the welfare projects before any project is launched.

At this, Chief Justice remarked the main job of politicians is to make law rather than seeking welfare funds.

Chief Secretary Balochistan was authorized to request the NAB for probe into the matter, said Chief Justice.

The Supreme Court also expressed its anger over the letter written to the apex court by the Chief Secretary.
Justice Azmat Saeed said that ministers have converted all the welfare projects in their constituencies. Welfare projects should be done but distribution of funds should be made on equal basis, concluded Justice Azmat.
