A two-member SC bench is hearing treason case against former president Gen Pervez Musharraf today.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court on Sunday changed the three-member bench for hearing cases against former president General Pervez Musharraf, as Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry dissociated himself from the bench.
According to details, now the two-member SC bench headed by Justice Jawad S. Khawaja has initiated proceedings against the former military ruler under High Treason (Punishment) Act 1973 today (Monday). Justice Khilji Arif Hussain is the second member of the bench.
Several petitions have been filed in the apex court requesting the court to direct the federal government to prosecute Musharraf under the High Treason Act 1973 for suspending the Constitution and imposing emergency rule in 2007.
