Missing persons' case: SC order to present 7 prisoners on May 10

By on Wednesday, May 08, 2013

Attorney General, Attorney General KP and counsel for secret agencies have been issued notices.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News):-The Supreme Court has ordered secret agencies to present seven missing prisoners from Adiala Jail on May 10 in the court.

Three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing of the case. During hearing, counsel for secret agencies Raja Irshad told the court that prisoners had been handed over to political administration after they were shifted from detention centre. Now political establishment is prosecuting them.

At this, the Chief Justice said that it is very strange that a prisoner was imprisoned for five years and the second one for 14 years without meeting legal procedure.

The prisoners’ counsel Tariq Assad argued that those prisoners were not presented at any forum.

The court adjourned hearing for May 10, with the direction that record of cases against prisoners should also be moved in the court.
