KPK, Sindh Assembly members sworn in

Nomination papers for assemblies' new Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be filed today.


PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s first session commenced on Wednesday where 122 newly elected members were sworn in.

The session was delayed by 30 minutes and began with an address by the outgoing speaker of the assembly, Kiramat Ullah Chagharmati.

In his address‚ the speaker  greeted the members and hoped that they will work for the strengthening of democracy.

Later, the speaker  administered the oath to the newly elected members of the provincial assembly.

On the other hand, the first session of the 14th Sindh Assembly began at 10:30 am today where Sindh Assembly speaker Nisar Khuhro took oath from 120 newly-elected members.

Of the 130 general seats, elections were held in 128 constituencies. However, results of 120 lawmakers have been notified as yet. The results of the remaining eight MPAs-elect have been withheld either for re-polling or by the high court.

Election for the posts of the speaker and the deputy speaker will also be held on Thursday.
