Peshawar: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has ordered to block all blasphemous content from social networking site including Facebook. Court directed interior ministry to reply within 20 days with complete details of actions. Judge if PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad said anti Islamic content on social media website is hurting Muslims’ emotions and authorities should take strict actions.

Earlier, lawyer Arif Khan filed application in High Court stated that government has failed to block blasphemous content from social networking websites.
The decision has come in such a time when interim government is going to shift responsibilities to new democratic government. There are chances that PHC can give verdict on next hearing if interior ministry would fail to answer clearly. Facebook is top viewing website in Pakistan.

It’s pertinent to mention here that World’s leading Video Streaming website YouTube was blocked 8 months ago on blasphemous content complaint.
