ECP issues new guidelines for peaceful conduct of elections

Under the new guidelines‚ the contesting candidates will not seek votes in the name of religion.


ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued new guidelines for smooth and peaceful conduct of the general elections in May.

Under the new guidelines‚ the contesting candidates will not seek votes in the name of religion or sect while providing transport to voters to polling stations has been declared a crime.

The ECP said that no voter should be allowed to take ballot paper out of polling station while forced eviction of voters from polling stations will be considered a crime.

Furthermore, the candidates cannot establish polling camps within 4 hundred yards of polling stations.
